wow...good question...there seems to be all sorts of tribes that have branched out over time. sorta like you get to know people and then a new tribe gets started w/ those people.

the recent ones i joined are similar in concept.

friends come and go. i have learned being on here for just two yrs. that i stick to some tribes real close and others i check in on once in awile. like today.

This is just a quick idea, it may be totally impractical ... just expressing a thought ... brainstorm mode here.

Maybe have a different discussion Theme Topic for each day ... or for each week?

Where tribe members will hopefully participate by posting something related to that Theme Topic?

And then each post might stimulate additional memories and thoughts in other members, which they can respond about.

Here are some ideas, if done on a daily theme basis:

    Horror Story Monday:
Requests for member-chat about horror stories from some time in their lives. Related to travails, hard times, bad tech days (computer nightmares), etc.. This can be sub-thematized for a given session to specify horror stories related to family, work, relationships, dates, embarrassing moments, weather related, accidents, etc .... need not be personal, can also relate incidents which happened to other people they know.

    Funny Tuesday:
Funny and humorous or funny/weird events or incidents which happened in their lives or to someone they know.

    Wack-Off Wednesday:
Ooops ... no ... that is not a good idea. Sorry. (But it sounds good though ... alliteratively speaking)

    Picture Thursday:
Requests for pictures with a story. Picture posts allow a lot of room to tell a story along with the picture, even though few seem to take advantage of that ability. A better idea might be to write a normal post about the picture and then include in the post a link directly to the picture, which will have been posted beforehand into the tribe's photo area. Pictures can be very interesting, and stories going along with the pictures would add so much more interest, enjoyment and appreciation. The pictures with stories can be from the far past to the recent days. Multiple pictures can be posted with a continuing story explaining the surrounding events (with, for example, in a regular post having multiple links to multiple photos which had been loaded up to the tribe photo area).

For example, I could tell a story about these creatures: imtakiniton.tribe.net/photos/...a65215e8 for they each have interesting stories. Separated for the most part, but they had a strong attraction: imtakiniton.tribe.net/photos/...93f16e9a and although the bars separated them at this time, they never stopped trying to get rid of the barriers ... www.tribe.net/template/pub,PopPic.vm . And there is an interesting story about this caged creature too: imtakiniton.tribe.net/photos/...79958882 .
But I can't tell any of those stories because it isn't Picture Thursday today. :>)

    Financial Friday:
Member-chat about financial ideas is solicited: stock investments, frugal saving tips, real estate, gambling advice, whatever has to do with money and assets.

Sexed-Up Saturday (we all must know that sex is a best-seller on tribe and everywhere else)!
Member chat about sex issues is solicited with many different sub-themes made to be the focus for that particular session, such as: funny sex stories; close encounters, favorite methods, awkward moments, personal bests, is it over emphasized?, best memories, the perfect night, what do girls want, etc

    Surprise Sunday:
Surprise themes: sports?, exercise?, neighborhood stuff?, family issues?, pet stories? fun hobbies? activism? Fav TV shows (eg American Idol)? Fav web sites? Fav freebie PC utilities?

Maybe the tribe members could be solicited to come up with topic ideas for the days/weeks and then a list compiled and then a plan made for using them.

And Laura Love can then coordinate all of that. :>)

Just tossing the idea out there.

Oh, here's another idea. Have the tribe send invites to the leaders of other tribes and ask them to post here about their tribe's history, the most meaningful topics and discussions they had, the trend of activity over time, did they do anything to spur greater interest, links to the best photos they had posted, etc... And then they could answer any followup questions which might be asked here.

In other words, one activity could be to function as a tribe that is dedicated to studing other tribes! A meta-tribe! lol It would probably be a first! A new level of tribehood.

Not to say that would be the sole purpose. But it could be interesting and fun to have it as a planned periodic purpose. Maybe weekly or monthly?

The answer was sent in an email to Mark Pincus today @ 3:06 am.

    -----------------

    Mark,

'We've set aside 'one billion dollars for 'tribe and 'your networks to operate for time immemorial. There is a lot of love here.

'You'll need to contact Colin Powell, 'our President and CEO in about 8 weeks to arrange for a bond to be set up in 'your founders' names, Tribe.net and Utah Street Networks, Inc. The CIA will contact 'you to set it up.

    Interest is already accruing bro.
